About Me

The Story Behind FreelancePro.me

G'day legends! I'm Olivia Mitchell, a 32-year-old travel writer, surf enthusiast, and self-proclaimed Bali addict from Sydney. If you're wondering who's behind all these Bali guides and why you should trust my recommendations, you've come to the right place. Let me spill the beans on my journey, my obsessions, and why I created this little corner of the internet.

How It All Started

My love affair with Bali kicked off back in 2015 when my mates and I decided to celebrate my 21st birthday on the island. We were young, broke, and had no idea what we were in for. I remember stepping off the plane in Denpasar, feeling that warm tropical air hit my face, and thinking "bloody hell, this is going to be good."

That first trip was a blur of cheap warungs, questionable decisions, and some of the best sunsets I'd ever seen. We stayed in a tiny guesthouse in Kuta, hired scooters (terrifying in hindsight), and explored every beach we could find. By the time we flew back to Sydney, I was absolutely hooked.

I went back the next year. And the year after that. And the year after that. Before I knew it, I'd been to Bali more times than I'd been to Brisbane (and that's saying something for an Aussie!).

From Hobby to Passion Project

After my fifth trip, I started getting heaps of questions from mates, family, and even random people on Instagram. "Olivia, where'd you stay?" "Olivia, what's the best beach?" "Olivia, how do I avoid Bali belly?" (Spoiler: don't drink the tap water, legends).

I realised I'd accumulated a ridiculous amount of knowledge about Bali – the good, the bad, and the absolutely legendary. I knew which warungs served the best nasi goreng, which beaches were worth the trek, which tours were actually worth your money, and which tourist traps to avoid like the plague.

So I thought, why not share all this info? That's when FreelancePro.me was born. It started as a way to help my mates plan their trips, but it's grown into something much bigger – a resource for anyone from Australia (and beyond!) who wants to make the most of their Bali adventure.

"Bali isn't just a destination for me – it's a second home. Every trip teaches me something new, and I'm still discovering hidden gems after all these years."

My Bali Philosophy

Look, I'll be straight with you – I'm not here to sell you some overly romanticised, Instagram-filtered version of Bali. Bali is amazing, but it's also chaotic, crowded, and sometimes frustrating. Traffic can be mental, scams exist, and not every beach club lives up to the hype.

But here's the thing: when you know what you're doing, Bali is absolutely magical. It's about finding the balance between the touristy stuff and the authentic experiences. It's about respecting the culture while still having a bloody good time. It's about knowing when to party and when to find your zen.

That's what I try to do with my guides – give you the real, unfiltered lowdown on Bali. The good, the bad, and everything in between. No sugar-coating, just honest advice from someone who's been there, done that, and probably will again next month.
